Housing Assistance which placed him into a hotel temporarily. He was also duel-enrolled in the HVRP program in hopes of attaining training toward gainful employment.
Since coming to VSC, he has enrolled in VA medical coverage, enabling him to attain a Primary Care Physician, and has been placed in sustainable housing in an apartment. This apartment was then completely furnished by Military Missions In Action, Veterans Bridge Home, and Veterans Services of the Carolinas.
Alquan completed job training and accepted an employment offer for a security officer position, and Military Missions in Action donated a car so that he could have transportation to and from work!
Right after beginning his security officer job, Alquan suffered knee damage. The VA medical coverage paid off as he required surgery and a cast. Alquan will be able to keep his new job as he recovers for 6-8 weeks, but for now he is resting comfortably in his new furniture and he has a kitchen full of groceries, donated by the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
Alquan's journey through our various programs is a prime example of how we continue to collaborate with other community providers to make sure that our Veterans are completely supported.
