Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program

The Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) helps Veterans at risk of or experiencing homelessness find meaningful employment. It focuses on personalized support, job training, and career placement. As a result, Veterans can build lasting stability and independence.

At Veterans Services of the Carolinas, we deliver this program across several regions in North Carolina. We combine career services with housing support, peer mentorship, and strong local partnerships.

Case Management Services

Every Veteran begins with a one-on-one interview. During this session, a Case Manager determines eligibility and helps complete a career assessment. Next, they work with the Veteran to create an Individualized Success Plan (ISP).

With permission, Case Managers coordinate with community partners. This ensures the Veteran receives complete care without duplication. Additionally, Veterans are connected with an NCWorks Disabled Veteran Outreach Specialist to enroll in the Wagner-Peyser workforce system.

Vocational Counseling

Transitioning from military to civilian careers can feel overwhelming. That’s why our Case Managers guide Veterans through career discovery.

They use tools like aptitude tests and education reviews. Together, they identify interests, past experiences, and possible career matches. This approach helps Veterans choose paths that fit their skills and goals.

Job-Driven Training

Sometimes, Veterans lack the training or certifications needed for certain jobs. HVRP can help with that. Once approved, Veterans may receive support to cover training programs, certification fees, books, and lab supplies.

These resources open doors to jobs that require specific credentials, increasing employment options.

Job Search Assistance

Veterans enrolled in HVRP are never alone in their job search. Case Managers assist with writing resumes, preparing for interviews, and searching for job openings.

Moreover, they often refer Veterans to local agencies or career centers that offer additional support.

Support with Tools, Clothing, and Transportation

HVRP also helps Veterans cover employment-related costs. For example, the program may pay for:

  • Tools or safety equipment
  • Work or interview clothing
  • Transportation to job interviews or classes
  • Certification or license fees

This added support helps Veterans overcome barriers and stay focused on success.
